RV University in plain terms.
RV University is the newer private university set up in 2021 by the RSST trust — the same trust that runs RVCE. The Mysore Road campus is shared infrastructure, but RVU itself is a distinct legal entity with its own degree-granting powers as a state private university. It is positioned as a multi-disciplinary institution: B.Tech sits alongside BBA, B.Des, Liberal Arts and BA LLB. This is a different model from RVCE, which is a single-faculty engineering college.
Fees at RVU are noticeably higher than at RVCE. Management-quota CSE at RVU is ₹75 lakh over four years, with Year 1 carrying the heaviest load. Even AI/ML and Data Science specialisations cross ₹60 lakh. The COMEDK route at RVU comes in much lower at ₹12.04 lakh total, broadly similar to other private engineering colleges. For families weighing this campus, the gap between the two routes is the largest in the Bengaluru lineup we cover.
RVU runs its own entrance test (RVUET) for B.Tech admissions, alongside accepting COMEDK ranks and JEE Main scores. Management seats are direct admission through the university office.
Who RVU suits
- Families specifically attracted to the multi-disciplinary model — B.Tech students who also want elective access to design, law or liberal arts modules.
- Candidates with strong JEE/COMEDK scores who want the RSST trust brand without RVCE's KCET-driven cutoff pressure.
- Buyers comfortable with newer-university risk: first batches graduate in 2025–26, so placement data is still early.
Management quota — how the process runs
- Send your details through the enquiry form or call.
- Counsellor call — programme selection, fee timing, document checklist.
- Provisional offer from the university office, verification.
- Fee remittance, joining instructions.

- BBA, B.Des, Liberal Arts and BA LLB programmes are priced separately — ask us for the current schedule.
- Hostel, mess and other living charges are billed separately from tuition.
- The university revises fees annually; the next notification is expected May 2026.
Eligibility.
RVU runs its own entrance test alongside accepting national and state-level scores. There is no KCET channel — RVU is a private university, not VTU-affiliated.
RVU Entrance Test (RVUET)
- Class 12 with Physics, Maths and a third science.
- 50% aggregate minimum.
- RVUET is conducted online; admission is based on rank and an interview.
- Open all-India; no Karnataka domicile requirement.
COMEDK / JEE Main route
- Class 12 with PCM and a science.
- Valid COMEDK UGET or JEE Main 2026 score.
- RVU publishes its own COMEDK fee schedule and intake quota each year.
- Open all-India.
Management quota
- Class 12 with PCM and a science.
- 50–55% aggregate, programme-dependent.
- A national or state-level test score helps but isn't strictly required.
- Subject to seat availability.
Placements — early-stage data.
RVU is a young university. First B.Tech batches graduate in 2025–26, so placement statistics are early and not directly comparable to the established colleges in our list. The RSST trust's recruiter network from RVCE has been extended to RVU, which gives RVU a head start that newer private universities typically don't have.
Recruiters expected to visit
RVU's first full graduating cohort enters the placement cycle in 2025–26. Figures will firm up once the cycle closes. For now, treat placement projections as indicative.
What students and parents told us.
Excerpts from families we've worked with. Names initialised; full attribution available on request.
"The multi-disciplinary part is real — I took two electives outside engineering. Faculty are mostly young and the curriculum is being shaped year by year, which can feel uneven."
"Hostel is good, campus is shared with RVCE so the infrastructure isn't a concern. The fee was the only sticking point — we used the COMEDK route which made it manageable."
"We weighed RVU against three other private universities. eAdmision walked us through the fee gap between COMEDK and management — that conversation saved us from a costly assumption."
RV University FAQs.
What's the difference between RVCE and RV University?
RVCE is the older engineering college, VTU-autonomous, established 1963. RVU is the newer private university (estd 2021), multi-disciplinary, with its own degree-granting powers. Both sit on Mysore Road and share the same trust, but they admit students through different processes and charge different fees.
Why is RVU CSE so much more expensive than RVCE CSE?
RVU is a private university — its fees aren't capped by the Karnataka regulatory framework that applies to VTU colleges. Year 1 carries a heavy load (₹36 lakh on management quota for CSE) because of admission, infrastructure and one-time charges built in.
Is COMEDK accepted at RV University?
Yes. RVU has a separate COMEDK quota with its own fee schedule (₹3,01,100 per year for engineering branches). It also accepts JEE Main and runs its own RVUET entrance test.
Are placements proven yet?
Not yet — the first full B.Tech batch graduates in 2025–26. RVU benefits from the RVCE recruiter base, but until two or three placement cycles complete, treat any projected averages with caution.
