BIT at a glance.
Bangalore Institute of Technology has been running out of V.V. Puram since 1979. It is a city-centre campus, which families either love or struggle with — the buildings are older, the location is dense, and the alumni network across south Bengaluru is wide. Admission for 2026–27 is open across the B.E. branches.
On the fee ladder this sits in the mid tier. A management seat in CSE works out to around ₹28 lakh over four years, and the bulk of branches outside the CS family stay under ₹16 lakh. That makes BIT a sensible mid-tier option for families who want a Bengaluru address without RVCE-level pricing.
Most students join through one of three counselling channels, and the fee you pay depends entirely on which one you come in through. We sort that out for you on the first call.
Three ways in
- KCET (~45% of seats): Karnataka domicile only, KEA counselling, lowest fee bracket.
- COMEDK (~30%): Open to candidates from any state, COMEDK UGET rank required.
- Management (~25%): Direct admission through the college, no domicile rule, highest fee.
How the management route works
- Share marks, branch preference and budget with us.

- Provisional confirmation from the college, document verification.
- Fee payment and joining letter.
CSE and the AI/ML pair close earliest, usually by mid-July. Civil, Mechanical and EEE stay open later.

BIT publishes a fixed annual fee per branch. The two tables below show the management and COMEDK structures we are working with for the current cycle.

Eligibility.
BIT accepts students through all three Karnataka channels. Most families we work with file applications under at least two of them in parallel.
KCET
- Class 12 cleared with Physics, Maths and one of Chemistry, Biology, Biotech or Computer Science.
- Minimum 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC Karnataka).
- Karnataka domicile — seven years of schooling in the state.
- A valid KCET rank from the current year.
COMEDK
- Class 12 with Physics, Maths and a third science subject.
- Minimum 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST).
- Open across India — no domicile requirement.
- Valid COMEDK UGET rank.
Management quota
- Class 12 cleared with PCM and a third science.
- Around 50% aggregate, varies by branch.
- JEE Main, KCET or COMEDK score helps with documentation but is not mandatory.
- Subject to seat availability — refer to the institution for the current cycle.

BIT runs a steady placement cycle — not the highest in Bengaluru, but consistent. The bulk of offers come from IT services, with a handful of product companies showing up for CSE and ECE.

BIT FAQs.
What does the management seat cost for CSE?
The indicative four-year management fee for CSE is ₹28 lakh, paid as ₹7 lakh a year. Final numbers are published by the college every May.
Is hostel available on campus?
BIT has limited on-campus hostel capacity, with separate boys' and girls' blocks. Off-campus PG accommodation around V.V. Puram and Jayanagar is widely used.
Can students from outside Karnataka apply?
Yes — the COMEDK and management seats are open to candidates from any state. KCET seats are restricted to Karnataka domicile.
Are the CSE specialisations (AI/ML, Data Science, IoT) different from regular CSE?
They share the core CSE foundation, with specialisation electives from the third year. Recruiter response is similar to regular CSE in most placement cycles.
