Sir MVIT in plain terms.
Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology, named after the engineer-statesman, was established in 1986 at Hunasamaranahalli on the road to Bengaluru's international airport. The campus is large, leafy and a fair distance from city traffic — students either live in hostel or take the long commute. VTU-autonomous, NAAC A+.
Sir MVIT belongs to the upper-mid tier of Bengaluru's autonomous colleges. Below RVCE and MSRIT in cutoffs and placement averages, but ahead of most second-tier VTU colleges. Management-quota CSE here is ₹24 lakh for four years — in the same band as DSCE and BMSIT.
Three admission channels feed the seats: KCET for Karnataka domicile, COMEDK UGET for the all-India pool, and the management quota for direct admission. We help families pick the right combination for their rank, residence and budget.

Sir MVIT FAQs.
What's the management-quota fee for CSE at Sir MVIT?
₹24 lakh over four years — ₹6 lakh annually. CSE (Data Science) and AI/ML are ₹20 lakh; ISE and CSE (IoT & Cyber Security) are ₹16 lakh.
How far is the campus from central Bengaluru?
The campus is at Hunasamaranahalli, near Kempegowda International Airport. From city centre it's about 35 km. Most students who don't live in the northern suburbs prefer hostel.
Is on-campus hostel automatic?
Hostel allocation is not automatic. Capacity is limited at the boys' and girls' hostels — refer to the institution for current allocation procedures.
How does Sir MVIT compare to NMIT, which is also in north Bengaluru?
Sir MVIT and NMIT are both VTU-autonomous and serve a similar admission band. Sir MVIT has slightly stronger core engineering branches; NMIT has the edge in aeronautical and recent CSE placement numbers.
